August Sim of the Month and other Awards News!
Greetings to all members of the AQSG!
Congratulations to Starbase T'Plana Hath on being awarded the Sim of the Month award for August 2009!
It has come to the attention of the AQSG Council that the AQSG has not passed out any other awards over the last few years. In fact, we have boasted an array of awards which our web team has carried over from site template to template that have literally been collecting dust for years. We have since decided to resume handing out these awards.
Effective September 2009, 4 awards will be distributed on a yearly basis and 10 awards on a monthly basis. All 14 of these awards can be found under the OOC Awards list on the AQSG website.
In order to be eligible for an award, a player must be nominated by his/her GM as long as that player meets the criteria listed on the AQSG website. The AQSG Council will determine the recipients of an award from the nominations and will reserve the right to not hand out an award in any category. For the Officer, Non-Commissioned Officer, Crewman, Marine, and Sim of the Month awards, a player can only receive that award once every six months. Other categories may yield multiple recipients.
There will also be opportunities to create new award categories. To discuss new categories, please voice your views on the AQSG Forums.
The deadline for all nominations will be the 26th of every month.
If you have any questions/concerns/comments/complaints about the AQSG Awards Program, please present it at the AQSG Forums or by Private Message to Fleet Captain Harvey Geisler on the Forums.
Happy Simming!

Starbase 297
Starbase 297, one of the AQSG's newest sims, is now accepting players. While I am indeed searching for regular crew, I am experimenting with a new concept. This game will be open to any member of the AQSG, and does not require anyone to be a regular of the starbase to post.
For example, say you play the Chief Science Officer of the USS Starfire, but you've always wanted to explore the life of a common merchant and you didn't want to go further than a post and didn't want to commit full time to another game. You now have the opportunity to do so. Here at Starbase 297, there are no commitments, and you can post as you will. You can explore the lower decks, play a part in the Orion Syndicate or a smuggler, or a Petty Officer stuck with trash detail. The options are almost limitless.
What also makes Starbase 297 unique is that as the GM I will not come up with mission or situations. Outsiders to the game can throw "curve balls" or other little things that can have an affect on the regular crew.
Those wishing to be a part of the regular crew will be held to a once-a-week posting commitment.
Positions open:
Executive Officer (also AGM)
Chief of Operations
Chief Science Officer
Chief Medical Officer
Chief of Strategic Operations
Head of the Chamber of Commerce (civilian only)
Chief of Station Security
Chief Diplomatic Officer
Chief Flight Controller / Dockmaster
Starbase 297 is located 100 lightyears from Earth and is near no territorial borders, but is several thousand kilometers from a large Mutara-class nebula. She is, nor will ever be, in danger from the major powers in the Alpha Quadrant.
Those wishing to apply for regular crew with commitments may use the AQSG Join Form to fill out. Those wishing to participate in the Come and Go section will have their opportunity next week when the game opens.
The game will be played out entirely on the AQSG Forums and is a member of the 3rd "Tactical" Fleet.

New Aries - March Update
New Aries welcomes two new players, Tal Tel-ar, the colony's new Chief of Police and Kull Wolfgaar, owner of the casino ship, Black Orchid. Under Governor Cassandra Baines, corruption in the colony was cleaned up, but almost immediately after her term when her former chief of staff, Reginald Lovesy, succeeded her, the corruption returned. Now the future of the colony will be determined by the struggle between two powerful corporate families, the Conroy's and the Hadley's. Read our posts at Y! Groups ThunderFleet.
S31 Wild Cards - March Update
Fleet Captain Firestorm has become the CO of the newly formed Section 31 Black Ops Division based on SB T'Plana Hath. The USS Starfighter has been rechristened the USS Wild Card. Their first mission came right away when it was discovered that an archaeological site unearthed alien remains that are now being used in a secret genetic experiment. As soon as the Wild Cards were ordered to seek out this experiment and put an end to it, a bounty was put out on Firestorm and her crew. Read our posts at Y! Groups S31 Wild Cards.

But the recent rash of attacks on Starbase T'Plana Hath has revealed a dangerous terrorist cell that was bold enough to sabotage the USS Wild Card's warp core. Campbell has launched the Vichy with a skelton crew before the refit is finished. They quickly learn that they have already been compromised. Read our posts at Y! Groups ThunderFleet.
Starbase T'Plana Hath - March Update
After murdering Fleet Captain Firestorm in public on the promenade, Rear Admiral Braak and his XO, Commander Wolfdreamer escaped aboard the USS Adventure. They are on their way to the Delta Quadrant to find and deal with once and for all their old nemesis, Admiral Durok who had put out a bounty on Firestorm's head. What they don't know is that the mercenary who had blackmailed Braak into killing Firestorm is actually one of their own. Read our posts at Y! Groups ThunderFleet.
